Mr. McCann has served as St. Bernard's High School's Dean of Students since 2022. Mr. McCann is dedicated to providing a supportive and structured setting in which all students can thrive. He plays a key role in enforcing policies related to student behavior, attendance, academics, and overall welfare, as well as aiding in organizing student activities that enrich the high school experience.
Mr. McCann is deeply committed to student success both from his office, and in the classroom. He teaches Bernardian Seminar, a ninth-grade course for community development, building camaraderie, and providing tips for success in high school. His passion lies in building a strong sense of belonging and spirit within the St. Bernard's community.
Mr. McCann is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where completed two tours of duty overseas before being honorably discharged in 2019. His dedication to service continues through his education. Mr. McCann graduated from Fitchburg State University with a major in History and a minor in Middle and Secondary Education. He is currently continuing his education at Boston College's Lynch School of Education, where he is working towards earning a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy. Mr. McCann is also a member of the Catholic Leadership Cohort at Boston College's Roche Center for Catholic Education.
Although a native of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mr. McCann has been a Fitchburg resident since 2016. In his free time outside of school, Mr. McCann enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Madison, son, daughter, and dog. He is also a fan of movies, music, and watching his beloved Tampa Bay based sports teams.
