The high school experience would not be complete without the opportunity for students to participate in extracurricular activities. Developing responsibility, independence, communication, and leadership skills are traits that students should have the opportunity to strengthen or acquire in their school environment and through participation in school activities.
For these reasons, St. Bernard’s High School strives to make a wide range of extracurricular activities available to its students.

As an accredited chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS), NHS is the only organization at STB that operates on an invite-only basis. Students with a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.70 or higher; who have already shown service, leadership, and character; and who are in good standing with the school’s administration; are given the opportunity to engage in service and leadership opportunities within this nationally recognized organization. In order to remain in good standing, NHS requires its members to complete a minimum of twenty hours of community service per year and to engage in leadership opportunities within the school. In the past, school-wide service projects have included a food drive for the United Way, collecting diapers for a local group, and all school assemblies. NHS challenges its members to be citizen-scholars, and the STB chapter of NHS is particularly vibrant. More information: Ms. Merrill, Email | |

Students from each grade have the opportunity to run for office every year, by appealing to their classmates in a democratic election. Once chosen, student leaders work to plan and carry out fundraisers, class and school events, and promote school spirit. These boards often have weekly meetings and meet monthly with the school principal and Dean of Students to discuss the development of student life at STB. All leaders are welcome!
